Welcome to Champion Hill Farm, where honey bees thrive.
Our home base is Benzie county, we are located within a few miles of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake Shore.
Our hives are owned and maintained by Greg Griswold, a Northern Michigan beekeeper.
Greg specializes in healthy honeybees, which is apparent in the care he provides them.
Greg is a meticulous and thoughtful beekeeper.
He has an intuitive sense and a keen eye for details as he respectfully nurtures his bees. He has been a long time proponent of natural methods for mite treatment, and bee health, even though these strategies are more time consuming and more costly. The pay off is in the honey.
Most of our hives are located in rural fields where the hardy star thistle plant grows wild. The honey produced by the star thistle flower is very sweet and mild.
Welcome to the Hardy Honey Bee Farms website. Here you will find a complete list of our products and services, and you can learn interesting facts about honey, and its amazing health benefits, including allergy relief if the honey is local!
We keep our honeybee colonies at 5 different farms (Bee Yards) in surrounding counties in SouthEastern Michigan.
Our honey is sold at a few selected Farm Markets, but most of our honey is sold at our Retail Farm Market Sales Stand in September or on line at any time of the year.
Windmill Hill Farm is a small family owned and operated farm specializing in bee products such as honey and beeswax. We have 600 hives and produce approximately 30,000 pounds of honey annually! Our fledgling apple orchard has just begun to bear fruit. We rent our fields to local farmers who grow beans, wheat, corn and beets.
The farm includes two 30 acre tracts of forests, 190 acres of crop land (soy beans, corn, wheat, or beets) and another 40 acres of fields, buildings, etc. There is a pond and an acre of swamp. And, of course, there’s the windmill atop its hill!
